Carl Lentz was born on November 6, 1978, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA, where he attended Frank W. Cox High School. His love for basketball formed there and he joined the varsity team. After high school, when he attended North Carolina State University from 1998 to 2000 he became a member of their basketball team.
